Lastlog Solaris //

25/02/2014 · to /var/adm/lastlog have correct permissions: / /var /var/adm In Solaris 10 the root directory / and the /var directory should have 0755 permissions and /var/adm 0775. To check:ls -ld / /var /var/adm If they are not correct fix them withchmod 0755 / /varchmod 0775 /var/adm I also suggest to check for further permission issues with. Reading the UNIX/Linux lastlog file I recently had a Java project where I had to build a report of each account’s last login date and time on Linux and Solaris systems. The lastlog file is created as a sparse file, so only the chunks of the file that are used actually take up physical storage space. So all the space really isn't allocated. The file size just shows you how big the would would be if you tried to copy it or if you actually had 2 32 users. 28/11/2012 · This entry was posted on 2012/11/28 at 17:30 and is filed under monitoring, Solaris, Uncategorized. The script above is confirmed to work in Solaris 9 and Solaris 10, provided perl is available. 'last' located at /var/adm/wtmpx and lastlog serve different purposes. The 'last' logging writes an entry for every login by every user.

29/10/2004 · The commands, "last" and "logins" due not provide enough information. I am on a solaris 2.6 OS. and if i run a last command i see that the machine has five years worth of login info, but nothing tells me what year. I'm trying to find a way to report on the most recent login for all users on my Solaris 10 server. I'm starting with the output of the last command. Using that command, I get output like this: b.

22/04/2011 · My /var/log/lastlog file is getting mighty huge, and I was wondering how I go about rotating it successfully? If I ever delete the file, or rename it, or have a logrotate.d file rotate it weekly/daily etc. then I get errors in "/var/log/messages" when logging into the machine that it couldnt properly update lastlog. Some of my /var/adm/lastlog files are getting too large, and I want to truncate them. I will need to keep a few months worth of data, so I can't just wipe them out and start again. I don't know of. Thanks AVKlinux The UNIX and Linux Forums. Hello all, Might be a silly question, on my AIX machine the year had changed to 2022 and some files were accessed on this date hence the time stamp on these files is with year 2022, there are many such files. i want to. lastlog lastlog is a small program to display the contents of Solaris' /var/adm/lastlog. This is a binary file that gets updated upon each user login. Although similar information can be extracted from wtmpx4 using last1, reading the lastlog may be simpler or quicker.
